This evening I’ve been to see an exhibition of Lise Sarfati’s material at the Brancolini Grimaldi gallery in London.
Since I saw some of her work in a book recently I’d been itching to see this exhibition. It was worth the wait. On the face of it these are photos of normal people, in mundane situations. But. These are really photos of the souls of those people. And it shows in their eyes. Lise Sarfati gets to know her subjects over a number of years, so these are as far from snapshots as it’s possible to get.
The Guardian newspaper speaks about it far better than I can.
Go there. Before the 17th of March.
